Most SaaS reseller programs don't publish their margin. Of the 87 programs in the PartnersWatch directory that accept resellers, only six put a number on what resellers earn, from DigitalOcean's margin of up to 25% to Plesk's partner discounts of up to 45% (checked 2 October 2026). The rest either show an affiliate rate, mention a discount without a figure, or say nothing about money until you've applied.
So treat any reseller program as a negotiation. The page gets you in the door; the price book you're sent after acceptance is where the economics are.
What the 87 reseller programs publish
We counted every directory listing where reseller is one of the accepted partner types. 80 of the 87 are software companies; the rest are payments, business services and hardware. Here's what they say about money:
| What the listing states | Programs |
|---|---|
| Any commission or margin term | 42 |
| A number for the reseller track specifically | 6 |
| A reseller margin, discount or wholesale price, no figure | 6 |
| No commission or margin term in the commission field | 45 |
The two middle rows are a subset of the first, except Bitwarden, which mentions partner margins only in its list of benefits. Most of the other 30 programs with terms state an affiliate or referral rate, or describe reseller pay without a number.
Reseller programs are the second-least transparent partner type we track. 48.3% of reseller programs publish commission terms, against 87.1% of affiliate programs and 59.6% of agency programs (n=87, 264 and 89). Distributor and integrator tracks publish even less.
| Group | n | Publishes terms |
|---|---|---|
| Affiliate | 264 | 87.1% |
| Referral partner | 147 | 72.1% |
| Integrator / MSP | 100 | 44% |
| Agency | 89 | 59.6% |
| Reseller | 87 | 48.3% |
| Franchisee | 42 | 54.8% |
| Agent / broker * | 14 | 57.1% |
| Distributor * | 12 | 25% |
| Location operator * | 3 | 33.3% |
* Fewer than 15 programs in this group: indicative only.
Most reseller programs also run other tracks. 54 of the 87 accept integrators, 38 referral partners and 35 affiliates, which is why a reseller listing's headline number is so often the affiliate rate.
Reseller programs that publish a margin
These six state what the reseller track pays. Each row is from the brand's partner page as recorded in our listing.
| Program | Published reseller terms | Model |
|---|---|---|
| Plesk | Partner discounts up to 45% | Discount off list, for hosting resellers |
| Jibble | Up to 50%, lifetime for resellers | Share of subscriptions you secure |
| LucroVox (Global Certified) | 25% of collected monthly revenue, rising to 50% | Revenue share; LucroVox runs billing and support |
| respond.io | 15% to 40% lifetime commissions | Lifetime commission on resold accounts |
| Jotform | Up to 30% off Enterprise | Discount off list |
| DigitalOcean | Up to a 25% margin | Margin, aimed at MSPs, agencies and ISVs |
Six more mention a margin without a number. Zendesk lists partner discounts and margin incentives, Bitwarden lists partner margins and an MSP customer portal, SmartSuite lists a reseller margin and deal registration, WestFax offers wholesale pricing and a white-label portal option, Proton offers channel resale pricing for MSPs and VARs, and SumUp gives resellers scalable commissions and bulk hardware pricing. For all of these, the figure arrives with the price book.
Notice that two of the six aren't classic resale. LucroVox and respond.io pay a share of revenue, so the vendor still collects from the customer. That's closer to a revenue-share referral than to buying licences at wholesale, with less margin and much less risk.
How reseller margins work
There are three common structures, and they move different risks onto you.
A wholesale discount is the classic model. The vendor sells you licences below list (Plesk and Jotform both describe theirs this way), you sell at list or at your own price, and your margin is the gap. You invoice the customer and pay the vendor whether or not the customer pays you.
A revenue share on resold accounts means the vendor or its billing system collects, and you're paid a percentage of what's collected. LucroVox says so directly: partners earn a share of collected monthly revenue. Less pricing control, no collection risk.
Bulk capacity is common with usage-priced software. You prepay for seats, credits or minutes at a lower unit price and allocate them to customers. It rewards resellers who can forecast demand and punishes overbuying.
The headline discount isn't your margin. Say a customer's plan lists at $500 a month and you buy it at a 25% discount. Your gross margin is $500 − $375 = $125. Card fees at 3% take $15, and an hour of first-line support a month at $50 takes another $50. What's left is $125 − $15 − $50 = $60, or 12% of the revenue. That's a decent business if you sell implementation and training on top, and a poor one if you don't.
Do that sum for your own costs before you sign. The costs that people leave out most are support time, payment fees, the sales tax or VAT you now have to collect, and the occasional customer who never pays.
Who owns billing
Billing ownership decides most of the rest of the agreement, so settle it first.
When you bill the customer, you set the price, bundle software with your services on one invoice and own the relationship. You also carry collection risk, need billing software and have to handle sales tax or VAT where your customers are. ActiveCampaign is one program that lists direct client billing as a partner option.
When the vendor bills, you get paid a margin or revenue share and do almost no admin. The customer may come to see the vendor, not you, as their supplier. Charlie AI and LucroVox both say they run billing and support themselves, and accessiBe says it handles onboarding and support.
Questions to get answered in writing:
- If a customer stops paying you, do you still owe the vendor?
- Can you move a customer back to direct billing, and does your margin follow?
- Who handles refunds and chargebacks?
- Which currencies and payment terms can you offer?
- What happens to your customers if the agreement ends?
Our guide to how partner payouts work covers the timing side, from hold periods to payout thresholds.
White-label reseller programs
White-label means you sell the product under your own brand, often with your domain, logo, colours and email sender. Very few SaaS reseller programs say they offer it. In our 87, the clearest mentions are ActiveCampaign's white-label options and WestFax's white-label portal. Grasshopper offers a co-branded phone system for resellers, which is a halfway house.
If white-label matters to you, check how deep it goes before you sign:
- Does it cover the login page, the app itself, transactional emails, help docs and mobile apps?
- Can you use your own domain with a proper TLS certificate?
- Are there "powered by" marks you can't remove?
- Can you set your own plan names, limits and prices?
The trade-off is plain. White-label keeps the brand equity with you, and it also makes you the face of every outage. Co-branded resale is simpler and lets the vendor's reputation do some of the selling.
Reseller programs by type of business
Most resellers fall into one of four groups, and the programs that fit each are different.
MSPs and IT resellers have the deepest bench of programs, mostly in security and IT management. 1Password offers a 14-day free trial for MSPs, Bitwarden an MSP customer portal, and NinjaOne, Keeper Security, CrowdStrike and Foxit all run reseller tracks (Foxit names VARs, IT retailers, system integrators, ISVs and MSPs as eligible).
Cloud and developer resellers look at Google Cloud (Select, Premier and Diamond tiers, plus Google Cloud Marketplace selling), Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, GitLab and MongoDB. GitLab's services track requires services certifications and proof of GitLab project delivery.
Hosting resellers have Plesk, with Partner Central licence management and the highest published discount in the set.
Business software resellers serving SMBs have the widest spread, from Zendesk and HubSpot to Kisi, which pays resellers and installers of access control a recurring percentage for the customer's lifetime. If you implement more than you resell, compare these with agency partner programs.
How to evaluate a reseller program
Ask these before you commit time to certifications:
- Do your existing customers need this product, and can you explain it confidently?
- What's your real margin after support, billing, payment fees and tax?
- Who keeps the customer if you and the vendor part ways?
- Is account provisioning self-serve? Raising a ticket to create every customer account doesn't scale.
- Is there deal registration? SmartSuite and Airia list it, and LucroVox gives 90-day deal protection.
- Does the vendor's direct sales team sell to the same customers at a lower price?
- Are there minimum purchase or customer commitments?
The sixth question is the one that ruins reseller businesses. If the vendor discounts direct below your price, your margin is gone. Ask how conflicts are handled and get it in the agreement.

You can filter the directory to reseller programs or distributor programs. If you want to recommend software without billing anyone, our affiliate vs referral vs reseller guide shows where each model fits.
If you're a software company building a reseller channel, the hard parts are per-partner price books, provisioning accounts on a partner's behalf and branding. PartnersWatch (our product) covers those on the SaaS use case and white-label pages.
FAQ
What is a SaaS reseller program?
A SaaS reseller program lets you sell a software company's product to your own customers, either by buying it at a discount and setting your own price or by earning a share of the revenue the vendor collects. Resellers usually own the customer relationship and often handle billing and first-line support.
How much margin do SaaS resellers make?
Published reseller terms in our directory run from about 25% to 50%: DigitalOcean offers up to a 25% margin, Plesk partner discounts up to 45%, and Jibble up to 50% lifetime. Only six of 87 reseller programs publish a figure. Your net margin after support, payment fees and tax is much lower than the headline.
Which SaaS reseller programs offer white-label?
Few say so publicly. In our directory, ActiveCampaign lists white-label options and WestFax a white-label portal, while Grasshopper offers a co-branded phone system for resellers. Check whether white-labelling covers the app, emails, help docs and your own domain before you sign.
Do resellers have to handle billing?
Not always. In a wholesale model you invoice the customer and pay the vendor. In a revenue-share model, such as LucroVox's, the vendor collects and pays you a percentage. Decide which you want before you apply, and confirm it in the agreement.
Is reselling better than an affiliate or referral program?
Reselling earns more per customer and gives you pricing control, but you take on support, billing and the risk of customers who don't pay. If you only want to recommend software, an affiliate or referral program pays less but needs almost no operational work.
How do I become a SaaS reseller?
Apply through the vendor's partner page, expect a call about your customers and market, and complete any certification the program requires. Then ask for the price book, the billing model and the deal registration rules before you sell anything. Many programs only share margins after acceptance.
