Payment partner programs split into two camps: programs that pay you for referring or reselling (Razorpay's commission on client transactions, Payoneer's activity-based commission and tiered revenue share, SumUp, Mollie, Tide and Authorize.net's reseller program), and programs built for implementers and software platforms that mostly pay in status, leads and directory placement rather than cash (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal and Square). Agencies and consultants should start with the first camp. SaaS companies embedding payments should start with the second.

The rest of this page goes brand by brand, sorted by who you are, because a web agency and an ERP vendor want completely different things from a payments partnership.

PartnersWatch isn't affiliated with any brand on this page. Terms come from each provider's own partner page on the date shown on its listing. Payment companies rarely publish rates, so where a figure isn't public we say so instead of guessing.

First, know which kind of partner you are

Payment providers sort partners into roughly four types, and the same company often runs a different deal for each.

  1. Referral partners introduce a merchant and step away. Paid per merchant or as a share of the provider's revenue on that merchant.
  2. Agencies and service partners set up payments as part of a website, store or implementation project. Paid in bonuses, leads, support and sometimes revenue share.
  3. Technology partners and ISVs build payments into their own software. Paid as a share of payments revenue, or not paid directly at all but given distribution through a marketplace.
  4. Resellers buy or sell the service under their own commercial relationship, earning a margin on buy rates or hardware.

Get this wrong and you'll apply to a program that has nothing for you. A freelance Shopify developer applying to Adyen's technology track is wasting a week.

Programs that pay referral or reseller commission

Razorpay partner program (India)

Razorpay pays partners a fixed commission on the transactions their clients process. It's built for agencies, consultants and implementation firms that set up payments for clients, plus SaaS and ERP vendors that embed Razorpay. Earnings show on a partner dashboard and settle automatically.

This is the closest thing on the list to a clean recurring income from payments: every time your client takes money, you earn. It's India-only, so it suits agencies serving Indian merchants.

Payoneer partner program

Payoneer targets corporate service providers, marketing and affiliate partners, e-commerce consultants and technology integrators serving cross-border businesses. Commission is based on referred clients' activity. Silver and Gold tiers add milestone bonuses, and Platinum gets custom revenue share. There's no minimum referral volume, and the strategic fit and compliance review comes back within 48 hours.

If your clients sell on marketplaces or get paid by foreign customers, Payoneer is the obvious fit. A company-formation agent or Amazon seller consultant can make this a real line of income.

SumUp partner program (Europe)

SumUp runs four routes from one page: referral partnerships for associations and banks, a reseller track for shops buying card readers and POS hardware in bulk, software integrations that share payments revenue, and an affiliate program on impact.com paid per approved order. Resellers get scalable commissions and hardware discounts, and referral partners get co-branded campaigns.

The affiliate route is the easiest entry for content sites writing about card readers for small businesses. The reseller route suits physical retailers and POS installers.

Mollie agency partner program

Mollie is for web and e-commerce agencies that set up payments for clients. Approved agencies earn bonuses when referred clients choose Mollie, plus seasonal campaign rewards. Amounts aren't published. Agencies also get a dedicated support channel, early product access and sales help on qualifying deals.

The support channel is honestly worth as much as the bonus. When a client's checkout breaks on a Friday, having someone to call is what keeps you from losing the account.

Tide partner programme (UK)

Tide pays referral partners for introducing small businesses to its business accounts. The amount isn't published. Partners can offer perks to their clients, which helps signups, and Tide runs a separate affiliate programme for content publishers. People search "tide partner" because accountants, formation agents and bookkeepers in the UK hand out business-account recommendations all day. This turns that habit into income.

Authorize.net reseller program

Authorize.net lets financial institutions and other businesses resell its payment gateway with competitive buy rates and earn commission on sales. Rates aren't published. It also runs technology partner, certified solution and business services tracks. This is old-school merchant services reselling, and it suits ISOs, banks and payment consultants more than agencies.

Wise

Wise pays commission on referrals, with higher rates for business users, and has a high-volume path for partners sending 50+ referrals a month. Strictly it's a money-transfer program, not a processor, but accountants and cross-border consultants use it alongside the others.

Programs for implementers and platforms

Stripe partner ecosystem

The Stripe partner ecosystem covers service providers that implement Stripe, SaaS platforms that embed it, app builders and technology partners. Partners can earn specializations by passing assessments, and they're listed in Stripe's partner directory with access to a partner portal. The listing doesn't publish referral cash.

So why bother? The directory listing. Merchants looking for a Stripe developer search that directory, and a specialization badge separates you from every freelancer who has "Stripe" in their bio. For a payments-focused dev shop, this is lead generation, not commission.

Adyen partner program

Adyen has two tracks: technology partners whose products extend Adyen's platform, and service partners who consult on, implement and support Adyen for merchants. Partners get a portal for referrals, campaigns and assets, training content, a quality badge for qualified partners, round-the-clock technical support, and benefits that grow with the partnership.

Adyen's merchants are large. If you implement for enterprise retailers or marketplaces, being on Adyen's list is valuable. If you build Shopify stores for local shops, it isn't for you.

PayPal partners program

PayPal's program is for platforms, marketplaces, SaaS vendors and ISVs that want to offer PayPal payments to their own users. Partners get onboarding and integration specialists, APIs, SDKs and sandbox testing, training, co-marketing and access to 200+ markets and 130+ currencies. Pricing is arranged through PayPal's sales team.

Square partner program

Square is aimed at developers and software integrators who build apps on Square APIs and publish them in the Square App Marketplace. The reward is reach: your app sits in front of Square's sellers. It's available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, France, Spain and Japan.

How payment partner money actually behaves

Payments commission doesn't behave like SaaS commission. Three things to expect:

  • It's lumpy. Revenue share tracks your clients' sales volume, card mix, refunds and seasons. A retail client's December can be worth three months of their spring.
  • It's slow to start. The merchant has to be onboarded, verified and live before anything flows. Budget weeks, not days.
  • The rate is usually private. Most providers negotiate privately and don't publish rates. That's normal in payments. Ask for it in writing before you send your first referral, and ask what happens if the merchant renegotiates pricing directly.

FAQ

Does Stripe have a partner program?

Yes. Stripe's partner ecosystem covers service providers that implement Stripe, SaaS platforms that embed it, app builders and technology partners. Partners can earn specializations through assessments and get listed in Stripe's partner directory. The listing doesn't publish a cash referral fee.

How do I become an Adyen partner?

Apply to one of Adyen's two tracks: technology partner, if your product extends Adyen's platform, or service partner, if you consult on, implement or support Adyen for merchants. Benefits include a referral portal, training, a quality badge and 24/7 technical support.

How does the Razorpay partner program pay?

Razorpay pays partners a fixed commission on the transactions their clients process. Earnings appear on a partner dashboard and settle automatically. The program serves agencies, consultants and SaaS or ERP vendors in India.

What does the Payoneer partner program pay?

Payoneer pays commission based on the activity of clients you refer, with milestone bonuses at Silver and Gold tiers and custom revenue share at Platinum. There's no minimum referral volume, and applications get a fit and compliance review within 48 hours.

Can I resell payment processing?

Yes. Authorize.net runs a reseller program with buy rates and commission on sales, and SumUp has a reseller track with hardware discounts. Reselling usually means more responsibility for the merchant relationship than a simple referral.

Is the Tide partner programme free to join?

Tide's partner programme pays referral partners for introducing small businesses to Tide business accounts, and it doesn't list a joining fee. The commission amount isn't published. Tide also runs a separate affiliate programme for publishers.

Which payment partner program pays the most?

There's no public answer, because most providers don't publish rates. Revenue-share programs like Razorpay and Payoneer can out-earn one-off bonuses once clients process meaningful volume. Get the rate in writing before you refer anyone.
